Just a noise.
If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
-- 1 Corinthians 13:1
That would be something to brag about, speaking with the tongues of angels. People would happily pay good money to hear the incites of an angel. Of course you couldn’t but what Paul is saying is that if you could, and didn’t have love, it would just be noise. It is kind of like some of the proverbs that say a crust of bread in a place where kindness lives is better than a feast in a place of strife. It isn’t exactly those words, but you get the drift. A little with love is a happier place than a fortune without love. Many people think the fortune is better, until they get it, then they are miserable. That should be our first prayer in the morning, “Lord, if I can have only one blessing from you today, I chose your love.”
