Don’t be too proud before God.
but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, 28 and the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, 29 so that no human may boast before God.
-- 1 Corinthians 1:27-29
If salvation and eternity are things you have hope of, then you best put pride to one side. All these things listed are weak and foolish and insignificant, and despised. These are the things you would hope for, as apposed to the things the devil uses to tempt people with. If you are a Christian leader, and pride of life and pride of the eyes are pulling at you, it is time to have a heart to heart talk with Jesus about it. He chose you and not because you can make him look better, he doesn’t need that. He chose us to serve him in humility and you may consider yourself blessed if you don’t become famous, because it can be a snare.
